During a press briefing in Potchefstroom, the Proteas Women's captain, Laura Wolvaardt took a moment to reflect on her team's performance and outlined the significant strides made by the group: “I think we're in a good space, I think obviously when I first took over we just sort of had a very young group. [We] had a lot of people retiring in a short span of time and now we've had some good youngsters getting some good exposure to international cricket."

"I think a lot of stand out players like Nadine [de Klerk] have been brilliant for us this past season, with the bat and the ball whereas the season before she was spending most of the time on the bench. I think we have found a lot of little gems like that, I think there’s still a lot more room to grow for us as a team.”

“I think playing a hundred games for your country is a massive achievement. it was a really special day for her [and] her family was here, she was able to take a couple of wickets as well. She was a bit emotional at the start of the game which doesn't happen very often with Aya, she's quite soft spoken and quiet.” Said Laura Wolvaardt.

“She usually flies under the radar a bit, I don’t always think she gets the credit that she deserves. I think she's been such an integral part for this team for so many years and she has delivered in some crucial times for us within those 100 games, she's a great asset and I hope there's many more games.”
